Green cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration.
Boards quite worn , with scuffing and discolouration, especially to spine. Binding a little weak. However, printed pages and plates are largely clear and unmarked. Cut pages are a little uneven and some have tearing and creasing at outer edges.
Believed first edition, 1897.
Over 30 illustrations, including black and white plates of original paintings, drawings, a map of Belgium and two fold out facsimiles of letters. Cut pages. 370 pp.
