BOOK CONDITION
Boards have general wear and discolouration at edges. Hinges a little weak with slight split at front, but binding feels secure. Opened pages, which are quite uneven and discoloured at edges. However, printed pages and illustrations remain in good clear and largely unmarked condition.

Illustrated with over 1,300 reproductions of ornamental letters from the 15th and 16th centuries. Grouped on plates in the second half of the volume. Two of the plates are in red ink, the rest black. 287 pp. Large quarto sized volume, approx. 29 x 25cm.
SYNOPSIS
Introduction followed by chapters on printing and then the various cities and European regions which gave rise to different designs. A valuable historical resource.
